Chain size or pitch?

I ordered a motor sprocket for my go kart and it is a #25 sprocket with 13 teeth and it is about 1 inch in diameter. The axle sprocket is 45 teeth and that is about 2.5-3 inches in diamter. My question is does chain pitch effect the speed of the go kart because the sprockets don't look like they are good for speed. I am newbie and this is my first go-kart build.

Nope, the diamiter of the sprockets is what really matters.
