I have purchaced several different chains since I have tried several setups so far. I finally have a jackshaft combo that works, but the current chain is crap. Less than 5 hours on it, and it is gallded so bad it will hardly work. It kinks and throws the chain on hard turns.

Where can I get a decent chain that will actually take a good spray lube and not bite the bucket after -5 hours of operation?

No one has had the problems with chains that I have had? I am operating in kind of a sandy environment, with a little red clay in places. I have used chains on other applications without this problem, but I will admit, this is my first performance kart. I am using a #40 chain, but is there a lube better that standard spray on chain lube that people are using? Please help! I am in a pinch!

If you are throwing the chain, it is either not aligned correctly or it is not tight enough. Scrap the current chain an start with a new section. Make sure it is lined up straight and tighten it enough that you have a quarter inch of play.

I did that, and it is lined up with a straight edge. But the piece of crap is so gallded it kinks and occasionally binds up and pops off. Where can I get a good sealed chain that will take the abuse of a heavy sand environment?

#40 chain is hard to find in the first place. Most minibikes use #35. Gokarts are all over the place chain wise. I guess you just have to change it more frequently due to the riding conditions. Maybe you should move to a bigger/stronger chain like a #420/428? Sorry i don't have a better answer for you.

What size sprockets are you using? You might be able to minimize the problem by moving to a larger sprocket on the j/s in and out. Just a thought.

Well, it is on my gokart with a 13 hp engine, 10 tooth driver 60 tooth driven. What is the difference between the #40 and #420 chains? I know chain is cheap, but once you get your stuff set up, you just want to ride and have fun with the kids, right? It just seems like a pain in the butt to have to change the chain every 3 or 4 hours of operation. I guess i need to find an o-ring chain like on a dirtbike or quad. Those suckers are pretty expensive though.
