Hey for some reason when i lube my chain and the bushing and everything in that area it will take off smoothly. But once the lube dies up and i start to take off i notice that my chain well in that area it will make a popping noise as i take off. My chain doesn't pop off or nothing just doesn't take off smooth as it did when i put some lube on it..

I am using Wd-40 to lube it up.. I have also tried some thicker grease and still does the same thing.

Why is that?

WD-40 doesn't have alot of sticking power, try using motor oil, preferably some thick stuff. Lightly coat it because its going to fling all over.

Also is your chain dead on straight with the sprockets? A slight misalignment and the chain will pop ON to the sprocket, like it slightly gets caught on a tooth. I am bad about diagnosing things without seeign them though.

Or is the poping noise coming from the clutch?

I will try some motor oil.
I think is is coming from the chain not sure. because when i spray some wd-40 on the chain the bushing it is fine. Till it flings/drys up..

The kart runs fine, I was just wondering how can i prevent this

WD-40 is not a lubricant. WD stands for Water Displacement. The only thing I would lubricate with it is a door hinge. Actual chain lube works best, but motor oil works too. The popping sound is most likely misalignment though.

Alright, I am going to check my alignment and try some motor oil. And when i run out of motor oil i will get some chain lube from a dirtbike shop

Alright, I will.
And yes it is the clutch bushing
I will use a paint brush to spread it on there

didnt. the bike sits in my basement stripped down, a couple weeks after it was finished.

one day i was driving, trying to ignore the noise, (thought it wasnt a problem otherwise)

chain popped off. i was like WTF? well there was not one tooth left. it was completely rounded off.

you may want to consider a adjustable motor mount plate, or if your sprocket hub can move along the axle, you NEED to have them completely alligned, PERFECTLY.

also when mine used to do that it would be rough at acceleration then once i got to half speed it was smooth.

fix it now before its too late!

or else.......

Yeah i am going to take a look at my sprocket alignment. I have a live axle kart. So the sprocket can slide from side to side. So i am going to make sure it is aligned good. Because its just when i take off, it is rough but after take off i am good.

that makes me practically certain that you have bad allignment.

after about 1 hour of use my clutch sprocket looked as it did in the picture.

I have a bottle, that looks like motor oil, but it is chain and bar oil. It's extremely thick and only the bit of excess is flung off. I drip some onto the sprocket while rolling the kart forward until the chain has made a full loop.

While we're at it, I would take the chain off, and swivel all the links back and forth by hand. Might be that you've got a partially seized link. Maybe more than one.

when mine had this problem, i checked that also.

please remember, i made another bike, SAME chain, sprocket, clutch, engine, wheels, etc.

it had the same exact problem. both bikes had poor allignment. (not adjustable)
