Its a fairly new chain only has about 2 hours on it. It has about 5/8 inch play in but in one spot it tightens up pretty taught. Is this normal?

The Sproket and clutch are aligned up fine.

Sounds like your rear sprocket is not perfectly round, or miss aligned on the hub, and/or if it is on a live axle you could have a bent axle.

I vote bent shaft. Take chain off, and spin shafts by hand keeping a close eye on it. You may have to clamp something very close to the edge of the sprocket and watch the gap as it turns.

:iagree:50/50 on the shaft itself; sprocket may have one area bent (folded over) over. Sideswiping/ landing on something solid could do it. :sifone:
