chain link

Hi all, kind of new to all this, I was wondering.... I have a yerf dog that after running in serious amounts of mud Sunday, the chain keeps popping off. its loose so I figured id take a link out. I located the master link. so how do I get 1 link off? I am a mechanic so I'm capable. do I grind the riveted side off and use a drift to punch it through?

Yes you can grind the pin or use a chain breaker tool to remove links, but most karts have some way to adjust chain tension without doing either of those.

Is the range of your chain adjustment already maxed out?

Thanks for the link. I watched that one and several others. looks much easier than I anticipated

My chain is doing the same thing. We are going to try adjusting the engine mount slightly to get the right tension on the chain. We have ridden ours on a dirt track and hills, it may have shifted slightly.

I slide the engine forward a little and that took care of it. a new chain and sprockets probably would help too.
