My friend has Monster Moto 105cc mini bike with centrifugal clutch. His chain's master link keeps breaking. The master link just shattered into pieces. Should he just buy a new masterlink (again) or a new chain. OR should he buy a torque converter. He doesn't race it on flat land, it's more of a yard toy.

Thanks in Advanced.

Lets see some pics as to his current setup....
An actual breakage sometimes is the culprit of a kink or tight links as they revolve around the sprocket...

When does this break, at which point?

I'll get some pics later. I'm away from home right now. The chain pops off and then breaks. It sometimes kinks when it pops. The chain needs tightened by a link or two. I don't know much about mini bikes, but I know some stuff about go karts and other small engine vehicles.

When the chain broke earlier it rapped around the sprocket slightly, so that could be a problem.

If the chain needs to be tightened, try moving the wheel back for minor adjustments, or moving the engine forward for major adjustments.

if it's always the master link..
then it might be a clearance issue (master links are a tad wider than std links)
someimes the clip must face outboard to clear the clutch,
sometimes it needs to face inboard to clear some idler or other obstruction...
sometimes both.. in which case you cannot use a Master link but have to rerivet the chain
or have to modiy whatever's in the way.

Oh ya forgot about that one.. They are a bit thicker, especially in tight clearance spaces...

I had something similar happen with mine. It was because the chain was too loose. I adjusted the rear wheel and it was better.
