Great! You got the engine working. I have personally never liked the clutch being on the wheel. In my mind it could just cause problems if you are trying to turn and clutch at the same time

Yes fabroman i agree, will change things like that if i get it to a driveable state by the time i have to go back to uni! Haha i have thought about moving it to a position like the racing karts generally have them but the pedal isn't like ones on normal karts, i believe they have a spring on them? Ill look into it for a future modification

Yes buddy, i tried it initially and it was bolted to the column so it would potentially follow your hand but as i don't have a welder the lever was pointing the wrong way so i moved the clutch over to a new shift lever which should be in the next update post when i get round to it!

i dont see that anybody adressed the question .if you have a cracked frame and are doing a good click when it decides to fail you could end up with a steel post in your leg or worse.
sorry to be a downer . we used to use a magnaflux to check the engine blocks and heads for cracks . so here it is reall simple a magnaflux is like a u shaped magnet with one north and one south pole ,there is a pink dust ,basically metal shavings with color in them and when you put the magnet on a pipe squirt some dust on if theres a crack the dust will line up on it due to north and south poles .hopefully i didnnt make it sound to complicated. its really just a big magnet and some metal shavings. hope this helps.
