Depends on many factors.
What do want your drive ratio to be?
5 or 6:1 with 10 or 11 inch diameter tires is considered average/normal.
12 tooth clutch with 60 tooth driven sprocket (60 divided by 12) would be 5:1 ratio.

ok

ok thanks for that answer cause thats what im using the kart for but i want to understand it not just do it cause someone tells me to. i am making the kart and if i just tell the person the least number of teeth idk what im doing so i kinda wanna understand it i looked at a couple websites like wiki and stuff but didn't really give me the whole picture. thats a important part if your using like a snowblower or a chainsaw engine cause they dont have clutches on them and would just take right off when u started it! so i kinda wanna know more and also what about a keyway? some come with one and some come with a built in key... idk what that means. thanks for the simple answer but cence im making my first kart i would like to know more.
