So the clutch that came on the kart I just picked up for the kids appears to be bad. While just rolling along, the clutch would frequently grab and make a horrible noise. The fellow just said to take it apart, clean it and lube it with some oil. So I did that and it was okay for a little while before it started again.

The clutch pieces appear to fit fairly loosely - I can see the inner part moving / wobbling inside the bushing when I move it by hand. Wondering if the thing is toast or if the bushing is replaceable? Clutch markings say it's a Comet clutch (don't have it in front of me to look for a model #).

For now, I've replaced it with the clutch I picked up for the old racing kart so the kids don't have to deal with a runaway or a kart that won't start because the clutch keeps grabbing.

That could be just a clutch spring. When my springs go out, I just buy a new clutch since the clutch is already old and worn out. That could be a bushing but it sounds more like that spring.

It might be catching because the clutch isn't oiled. Ever 2 hours of use you should put like 2 drops of oil in the copper bushing. This is what I do with my 30 year old clutch it is loose like yours but still works good cause of the oil
