Good to see a build thread up. I can watch for tips! That engine looks the business with those chrome headers at the minute.

Yeah did you find any parts of it?
@ Jordan: I have no idea what frame it was. It was in a pretty poor state when I got hold of it. After bead blasting and a dust off it's solid underneath.
@ CustomShifter: Didn't find anything.. I take the occasional browse at eBay now and then but still nothing. The police said that it would be very surprising if they found it and even if they did - if I didn't know the serial number of the engine it was unlikely I would get it back anyway.

Cool man, looks good - only asked because I wouldn't mind having a set of front disks myself. Its a long shot but you don't have any spare 50mm axle bearing carriers do you? Having a hard time tracking down 1 extra carrier!

is that brazed? do they typically braze racing frames?

My kali kart was brazed and that was a certified kart. Think its to do with CDS tubing and flex at the joints?

blows my mind away - the steering spindle connections and their connections to the frame. So simple and lightweight. So effective.
you can almost see how the frame is designed to flex as all those forces come into play.
600cc in that is nuts!
In the US we have 3/4 sized Indy cars called Malibu Grand Prix (concession type stuff with normally installed 18hp honda pressure washer type motors w/ a comet type clutch). I have one in my garage along with a CBR600 motor too. Together everything will come in around 300 lbs, a bloated pig compared to your setup!!!

Unsure how the combination of brazing and welding will turn out. Although with the extra bracing to stop the sag in the centre of the chassis it won't flex so cracking welds shouldn't be a problem..
No 50mm bearing carriers I'm afraid. I need to get hold of an axle and bearings/ carriers myself.

My dad used to have the cbr1000rr and I tell you that bike was a dream and it got up there in speed, the 600 will be enough for the kart
I don't think the crushed tube will be an issue..
There isn't a huge ammount of weight/ force on the front struts. With the engine under hard acceleration the force will try and pull it up and back with the rotation of the chain. (there will be another support going from the rear of the current front strut to cope with the rear pull.)
The only other real force is the weight of the engine and braking which should easily be carried through the front/ rear struts..
Crushed tube is the way forward!
