Ok, here's my #1 entry:
Several years ago I was riding home from a friends house on my Gixxer 750. It was the first year that I had that bike and I really thought that a previous owner had changed sprockets for more low-end because the bike had a bunch of other mods (dynoed at 149.6hp at the rear wheel) and it just seemed to be running too many RPM at 70 MPH. I could have counted the teeth on the sprockets but I decided if it showed 165 MPH at redline in 6th it had stock gearing...
It was sometime around 2:30am when we pulled out of my friend's driveway and my riding buddy decided to let everyone hear his new exhaust at redline on the way out. Coming to a stop sign about 3 miles later I see my buddy flashing his high-beam at me and wait to see what he wants. "GO! GO! GO! That's a cop behind us" he tells me. We take off and loose the cop easily.
We got on the interstate and we were cruising about 120; all of the sudden there's a dead raccoon in my path! I swerved around it nearly putting the bike in the ditch. Two disasters narrowly averted. As we got out of the country and street lights started to allow a good long view up ahead I decided I should see if I had stock gearing... Sure enough it showed 165 on the speedo when I hit the rev limiter; I held it there for a few miles. As I started getting into a more populated area and I had already passed a couple dozen cars at 100 MPH above the speed limit; it was time to slow down.
I was around 120 mph and slowing when I passed a Caprice entering the highway at about 80 mph and full throttle... Busted for sure! Some nancy must have crapped her pants when I passed her and called the cops!
I wasn't going to run because this was only my 3rd summer riding and I didn't trust the bike enough yet (as I had only put maybe 200 miles on that bike at that time). I got on the brakes lightly, came out of my tuck, and started to pull over. I was doing maybe 80 mph in the right lane when the Caprice blew past me in the left lane at probably 110... It wasn't a Caprice, it was an Impalla SS!
I can't even describe the cacophony of thoughts, feelings, and emotions I felt when I realized I wasn't going to jail for "attempted vehicular manslaughter" that night.
That was maybe the 50th, and the last time I did 100+ MPH on the road... I was pretty stupid in my youth.
