Or yes its a jack shaft and may easily swap to gears for adjusting the ratio to "slow down the Kart" ( Im not even gonna go there as far as high or low) haha That would be Crazy.

gah! that's what I get for viewing the pics on my phone instead of the tablet or laptop lol.

My mistake, but as sid said it makes it a lot easier to take a tc now.

There are a few threads here about using Lemon juice. I have never done it but I hear it is like the best thing ever. I checked it on google and ended up back here!

Price depends on where you're at. It could be worth 20000000 vietnamese dong...

Fill out your profile location and we can better help you.

central maine.
On Clist, prices seem to range from $150 (usually not running) to $500. Some are custom rigs with snowmobile engines that people want over $300...I wouldn't touch those. There are a lot of single seat, low slung machines that would be for pavement or packed dirt roads. The larger twin seat rigs seem to start at $350(need work) and go up around $800 (usually nice and ready to go)

I know I cant complain. The power wheels I traded I got for free...I bought a battery and a charger for $45. So, my gokart cost me $45! Even better, the owner had a broken power wheels....so I gave him 2 working ones, got the kart and a broken power wheels. And it is probably just a bad switch that wont cost me anything to fix

Well theres your current price range lol.

Up here in mi in it's current state I could probably get around 200 for it. Running right, fresh paint, and looking good probably 6-800 depending.

If you want to sell theb clean your carb, get it running and driving right, and slap an ad up of around 5-600 or best and be willing to take 350-400 imo. You could also sttip it, paint it, and ask 800, take 6-700.

Hey now those rigs with snowmobile engines can be VERY fun lol. Just depends on if its done right or not.

Just a note on the lemon juice thing. You still have to poke out all the holes with something. The lemon juice will not dissolve solid material in passageways. You must also not put any plastic parts in the lemon bath

Ty landy, forgot to mention the plastic parts.

Usually what I do is boil in the lemon juice, then spray through the passages with carb cleaner to push anything out of there. I've never had a problem with anything being stuck to where it wouldn't come out with a quick blast (or quick blast of compressed air)

I cleaned the carb (carb spray) and put it on and got it to start/stay running.
I had the rear on a black, and the tire was spinning pretty fast...I put it on the ground and it wanted to move on its own. The idle did not sound that high to me. not sure why the clutch was grabbing?

But I didn't have a lot of time to check....it only ran for a minute or so before it stalled. Now it will start but not stay running...which indicated that the small hole in the jet got clogged.

I dumped the old gas and put in fresh, but Im wondering if I should take off the tank and clean it...cause it seems like something clogged the carb up again. Maybe I just needed to do a better job of cleaning the carb?

at any rate, motor can run, sounded healthy while it was getting fuel! Also, brake works :)

Oh, even stripped, painted and made to run 100% perfect...I don't see how I could get $700-$800. From the info I looked up, they were about $900 new in 2003.

I got it to stay running again...

But the idle seems high and the cart wants to move.

I only see one screw that is for adjustment...near the throttle linkage. Is that for adjusting the idle? If I can get the idle adjusted then it should be ready for a test drive!

If that is the adjustment...which direction will lower the idle?

another question......

The rubber line that is on the top over the motor (by OHV cover)...where should that go? Mine is broken just 3-4''
And the rubber line that goes to the top of the carb is also broken (had only 8'' of line.)

so, were these 2 points supposed to be connected?

will the broken line on the top of the carb let in extra air and cause a high idle? I was able to adjust the carb's screw enough to make the idle low enough so it does not move the kart but it will only idle at that level for maybe 10-15 seconds before it stalls.

Post pics of the 2 tubes you are talking about. You can also put an inline fuel filter between the two and carb. This will catch any debris from the tank

um, hard to take pics because of where they are.
the bottom line on the carb goes right to the gas tank (and behind the pull start cover)
I took off the cover and looked for any nipple other than the one on the OHV cover...and found none.
But the hoes that was on the OHV cover and the one that was on the carb look just about the right length to have gone to each other and just split from age.

So I went ahead and connected those to points with a new hose.

It runs a bit better...it will idle low enough not to move but still dies after 25-30 seconds.

It may just be that I need to clean the carb better than I have.

since it would start and run long enough for my kid to get in and hit the gas, I took it to a sand pit and let her drive it around.

The engine doesn't sound just right to me, and the speed looked more like 15mph rather than 20mph....but after running for 5 minutes or so she got the kart stuck in soft sand and it stayed running long enough I had time to get to her and push her out (this happened a couple of times)

After about 10 minutes tho, she got it stuck and after I got her out she hit the gas but the kart didn't move. Looks like the clutch got too hot. I am new to karting, but the clutch does look rusty and I would think rust would make it harder for the clutch to cool itself down. Might be time for a new clutch and belt.

Oh, and it turns out the brake is nearly useless. I would have expected their to be an adjustment on it somewhere...but I don't see one. So Id get it needs new pads?
