Well after a few years of tinkering with this $75 CL find I finally got around to finishing it. Haven’t worked in 6 weeks and won’t be back till at least May 18th.

Day I picked it up.

Paint removal

Primed

Primed and painted Rustoleum Gloss Apple Red

Center cap I made for the steering wheel

Jackshaft, spindles, pedals etc getting ready to clean up and paint

Rims going from white to black. Still have the originals but wanted something new and not bent up.

Got the inspiration of color scheme from a Nintendo I did years ago. Wanted the Apple Red with Flat black accents.

Motor is a new Hemi Predator
Billet flywheel and connecting rod from ARC
Governor removed
Black Mamba Cam from Isky
Filter and open exhaust
ARC top plate
26lb valve springs
Carb is S/A bored out .675 with jet replaced

New torque converter driver and 6” driven

Waiting for the upholstery shop down the block to open up so they can recreate the seat cushion.

Did you ever get the seat cushion re-popped? I like that one piece style with the attached cushion side bolsters. The Ken Bar single seat karts used a very similar design albeit with a white stripe down the center.

If the shop you used is trustworthy and skilled, I might use them too.

I never got the seat done. Someone purchased the kart before I had a chance to do it.

What year is the go kart. Do you know the model and make.

I have the same go kart but it’s a 2 seater, how did you get that sprocket off of the axle I haven’t been able to take it off to access the brake drum that needs replacing.

Saturate all the bolts with PB Blaster and let sit for a few days. Should come off easy after that.

Denny is correct. Also, go easy on it. That hub/wheel spacer (the four lobe thing behind the nut and washer) is probably unobtainable but essential for the Carter karts as it is the sprocket holder (and probably has a brake drum on the other side).

The OP had a Carter Brothers 1135ZX, 1435, 1735, 1755 or 1736ZX. They all have similar frames and for one rider.

Since there's no pics I guess that yours is something like a 2305, 2335ZX, 2435, 2435ZX kart. They all have similar frame design as the OP's kart but take two riders. Like this one: https://www.bmikarts.com/PDF/Carter-Bros/Model 2335/2335.pdf

In the Carter Brothers model number nomenclature, if the kart starts with a 1, it's a one seater. If it starts with a 2, it's a two seater (but not always).

I’m working on one of these now! Sharp kart, man!

How did you get that steering wheel on there? I want to have a larger one like that that’s also good looking, so badly, but I can’t find a conversion plate.

Also, do you have any idea how to get the steering shaft out? I’d like to make mine longer.

Thanks for compliment!

The wheel is the one that came with it when i purchased it of CL. You'll probably have to drill new holes one whatever steering wheel you find to match the holes on the steering shaft plate. Should'nt be a big deal.

The steering shaft is welded at the bottom below the shaft guide, so you would have to cut. I would'nt unless you plan to replace a damaged one. I just left it on and sanded it along with the frame and painted it all together. Hope this helps and good luck with kart. Let me know if you have anymore questions. (y)

They must have made you an offer you couldn't refuse. If it's $1000 cash, then all my karts are for sale at that price.:sifone:
And $1000 is not some off-the-wall unrealistic number either. Not in current era Bidenflation...

You can do anything with a welder or basic fabrication skills. Some steel in various shapes, cheap flux core welder and an angle grinder and drill would be the most specific/specialized items that you'd need.

I have the same kart and I desperately need replacement tires, do you know where you got yours if you replaced them? And/or the size
