Carter Bros 2506 Replacement Hub Question

I just bought a Carter Bros 2506 and want to get it running for my kids. The cart is in fair condition, with the exception of the rear drivers side hub.

The last owner ran the cart after the bearing had failed and eroded the aluminum within the bore.

I am not certain what hub to buy to replace the damaged hub and am seeking advice. I have attached a picture of the serial number, and the parts diagram for this kart is located:

I think I need part:
(24) G222 Drive hub 1 3/8" bore (from the parts diagram).

How would you suggest I find the right hub?

I will post a picture of the damage to the hub this evening when I get home from work.

Hello, welcome to the forum. I have a 2506 I am currently rebuilding also.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer went out of business, and no exact replacement parts are available. Also the wheel bolt pattern is unique to Carter Bros, so most aftermarket parts will not line up with the original wheels(rims). You will have to find something close and do some fitting.

Or you can try to find another kart like yours to get parts off of it. I recently bought a 2506 for $30 just to steal some parts off it. Unfortunately it didn't have the hubs on it, but I didn't need them anyways.

Thanks Texan, I just read that they are no longer in business.

I am searching online and finding it difficult to locate a kart for parts...

I wonder if I could replace the rear tires and rims with a different hub?

Yes you can replace the rims with a matching hub, you need 5/8" bore bearings on the hub. You will also need a matching brake drum and sprocket if you go with a new hub. Try to find a hub with a similar length as the original.

You could also take the one you have and have it welded inside and re-bored to fit the bearing. If you look at my build it was much like yours

I just replaced both front rims on my Murray Kilowatt offroad go kart and they came from gopowersports.com. They had to modify the rims for the bearings ID to fit my axles. They carry a lot of go kart parts. Call them to see if they can help, their toll free number is (866) 846-5278. They are located in Keller, Texas.

Just looked at the GPS website. Click on the "Breakdown" tab and Carter is one of the brands that pop up. Clicked on Carter and model 2506 is on the list. I'm not saying that they will have the part but they may suggest some kind of fix/repair.

Hellion, That was a Dupli-color metallic that I picked up at autozone. I tried to get the Kart as close to the factory colors as possible.
