Hey Looking for some help.
New to this forum.
I bought this go-kart off facebook a few months back.
I am very new to having and working on my own go-kart.
I noticed the torque converter belt was getting shredded.
Driven Unit has a red spring and is much larger than what Comet says a red spring driven Unit should be.
I replaced the whole torque converter with what go kart supply.com recommended. a 20 series comet.
The 20 series how ever is much smaller than what was on the gokart.
Do you think the 20 Series was the correct route?
Can I use washers?
The driver clutch is currently still stuck on the go kart. Working on that tonight.

You can’t mix 20 and 30 series clutches. You have to pick one and stay with it! Use only Genuine Comet or Max-Torque belts! The rest are garbage!
I went with the full 20 series kit. There is about an inch of extra room on the shaft. I was curious if you can use a washer on that? or washers?

The 20 series torque converter may not be the correct size for your go-kart. Using washers as a temporary fix is not ideal. Ensure you have the right torque converter for your go-kart's engine and chassis.

Why not? The factory thought the 20 series was correct. Lots of karts came with them from the factory back then and worked perfectly fine.

You're correct that some karts did come with Tuk Tuk engines, such as the 305 cc 2-stroke, and they performed well in those setups. However, the suitability of an engine for off-road karting depends on various factors, including terrain, kart design, and your specific performance requirements. If your kart's design and intended usage align with the characteristics of the Tuk Tuk engine, it can indeed work well for off-road karting.

This ain't a Tuk Tuk engine, it's an Industrial horizontal shaft. If I remember correctly, 20 series is the better option than the 30, but the 30 is cheaper. @JimD, am I correct?

The biggest difference between the two series, the 20 versus the 30 is the 20 is symmetrical --pulleys are evenly angled on both sides and you had to build your own jackshaft to hold the driven unit. Both series offer a 6" driven and a 7" driven but on the series 30 you would get the 6" driven unless you spec out before hand you wanted the 7" and then hope they gave you the correct belt to match up. Some of the series 30 belts had the arrow facing the wrong way which was not Comets fault but the manufacturer of the belt but Comet's fault for not catching it before they sent them out. A series 20 will generate a lot less heat and the belt will last long because you are not forcing it up the flat side of the fixed sheave.

Comet was purchased by Certified Parts Corporation after the bankruptcy in 2009 and one of the best Technical Advisors from Comet went there to work with them, Mr. Don Jackson. He knew the company and products very well and was a great employee of both Comet and CPC. He retired last year so historical information is getting harder to find when you want the correct answers.

Hijack here, but yes Denny I am sure it is a robot. Read another thread earlier and a post by IT sounds the same way. Bunch of bull s@#t. I hate it. Go blab your
$10 words on some insurance or financial forum.
