I know what i am posting has really nothing to do with this forum but Ive been using this forum for a long time and there are many people with some good imagination so i thought it would be a good idea to post here.

So me and my uncle want to take the dogs for rides on mountains etc and instead of going with a car, we will create a type of trolley which will connect to the rear end of the bike and will be able to disconnect whenever we want as well. Now Here is how it would look like.

As you can see there are two ball joints (if thats how they are called) connected on the rear end of the bike and on the trolley. This is to help the trolley also turn left or right when the bike leans. There is one problem though. Since we are goign to ride on mountains and fields etc, there will be many bumps and that will cause a lot of stress on the rear end of the bike where the trolley is connected. Here:

This is because it will be pushing it up and down when going over bumps. We want to ease the pressure but we cant come up with anything that will work. Anyone got any ideas to resolve this problem? The design can change but that problem has to be resolved.

LOL! really?

i would definately try to make it as safe as possible...... and i wouldnt use ball joints there.

i would use some sort of beefy tie rod, maybe a car tie rod?

you want a ball joint where there is a hole through the ball and the tie rod rests around it. like this.

tell your dog to run after you?

you can get trailers made to suit vespas and other scooters as well as realy light weight trailers for push bikes

if you use a single wheel on the trailer you can use a U joint like in the steering column from a car. If its two wheel you can get a small ball and hitch like shown on that gray scooter last posted^ . using two points of rotation is a bad idea. Its best to mount the hitch low behind the wheel rather than above it if you can

i agree.

i always used to tow one another with my friends in a wagon, pedal kart, jeep power wheels, anything.... and whenever the rope was mounted really high it always ended up getting wrapped up in my wheel hahaha.

Don't attempt to reinvent the wheel, here. You're making a trailer. So build it like a trailer. Use a 1 3/4" trailer ball and coupler. It will be a bit bulky, but will do, well- what it's designed to do.

Two "joints" is a bad idea. The trailer will be hard to constrain.

Minimizing stress on the tow vehicle is primarily a function of trailer design and weight distribution.

Your dogs don't have legs?

Just get one of the carriers that carry kids behind the bike. I got mine free. Just do a little modifieing to it like instead of canvas walls and floors weld some sheet metal there

Ok say i do it like that. What will happen if the bike leans whilst turning. Wont that be any problem? Or should i add that U joint from a car?

i dont think you usualy lean a bike with a trailer. You ride it like a trike/sidecar. Super gay. Have you not seen those weirdos with their harleys/goldwings going camping with trailers?

i guess if you make a one wheel trailer you can lean. Like the scooter above.

Of course you lean the bike with a trailer! The hitch ball allows for that, no effect on riding technique.

oh ok i still reckon that you wont be able to lean it in the same way. But iduno

put your dog in a baskit on the front of bike

or make something like this:

yup its a ball. it allows for full range of movement youll have normal range of motion on the bike and the trailer will stay level. If you use a steering u joint and single wheel in the back the trailer will lean with the bike and the bike will still work as normal. You cant use a u joint with a 2 wheel trailer or the trailer will tilt and the bike wont. itll be very unpredictable and youll probrobly crash

id say go with the uni

that is what those serous off road camper trailers use and they are for ultimate flex

i dont get what porsche930 is trying to say
a one wheeled traier will fail badly and a uni will work on a two wheeled trailer

iv experianced a ball pop off a car pitch on a steep hill and they only allow about 20* of movement each way

this pic isnt a uni but functions as one and would be very easy to make
