I bought the carburetor below for my Predator 301. It doesn't start on choke. I usually need to squirt some starting fluid in it. Do I need different jets? If so, what do I start with?

The choke or cold entichment circuit is completely seperate from the main circuit. Changing jets generaly refers to main jets.
Main jets wont change cold start. Not sure if even a pilot jet fixes dat.
Maybe someone smarter n me can tell ya how to cure that cold start thing. Don't buy jets just yet.

I did a governor delete and wanted a carb upgrade.

Did it start okay with the original carb? If nothing changed other than the carb I'd look at the new one as the culprit. The butterfly should close when the lever is pushed to choke. Did any springs get changed? Check for a pinched fuel hose.

The butterfly/choke should be closed on cold starts with the choke lever set to choke then when it starts you pull the choke lever back to open it. The governor regulates engine speed once the engine starts. You removed the governor so I would recheck what's going on there.

Make sure you don't have a carb gasket on wrong possibly blocking a fuel port.

The new carburetor does not appear (to me) to be much of an upgrade. The listing covers a wide range of engines, some smaller, some larger. Just saying. It's definitely an attractive package with all those bonus parts.
I'm with Karttekk; check everything else and while it may sound stupid, you need to be sure the choke butterfly is actually closing (doing what it should do) when the choke is activated. You will have to take off the air cleaner and observe the carb's throat.

Post # 7, very important. It looks like a stock style carburetor. I have a 301 that has been modified. Still run the stock carb. Looks like yours. I run a .040" or a
.041" main jet. Don't remember which. But for ease of starting, drilling the pilot jet out to .021" made a HUGE difference. Stock it was only .016". All of this works only if you are using aftermarket air filter and header pipe. If you are still using the stock air box and exhaust then disregard modifications described above. It would run way too rich.

Shouldnt be. Someone correct me though.
27mm should be perfect.
Are you getting air sucked in where the throttle cable enters? I had that issue with the carb that came with a Ghost motor.

Are you using that flexible fuel line that turns rock hard after you use it?

Self induced vacuum leak, but if you were testing mechanical function, I guess it's okay.

I will use the correct throttle hook up and see if that makes any difference. Of course, I'll wait until it's warmer....
I put a mikuni flat slide on my minibike with a preditor 212 what a difference! wouldn't say it if it wasn't true. used copper 90 deree sweat solder fitting to get it back out of the way with rubber hose and hose clamps so no leaks big paper air cleaner. Well worth the money. Mike
