Hello Gents,
Long lurker/First post...
Finally purchased a old Yerf Dog with Tecumseh engine. I knew it was beat when I bought it (150.00) and as usual finding more surprises as I go. Im a pretty good fabricator & engine guy so I can handle most of it

Engine:
Tecumseh OHH60 71131C
disp. 193

Seems to have good compression, and I got it running after cleaning the crap / fuel from the usual places

I'd like to buy a new carb... the priming plunger is split/ not working at all. Have to ether spray to get started....don't like to do it this way.
I found aftermarket carbs on the bay for around 20.00 shipped..Is this a good piece?
Is there a rebuild kit available? Where?
Just buy a OEM carb?

2nd Question Torque Converter

I think It is the original that came on the Yerf
The driver has no markings
Driven marked Comet 20 P5

The "drive" is complete junk need a new one
also need belt & cover, maybe more????

So should I buy a complete kit ?
Which should I buy

or

Just buy a new driver & belt, & hope the rest of it (driven) is ok?

Tks for any suggestions
Ed

Think your best bet for the carb is to buy a carb with a choke and adjustable jets. Much better than the primer bulb carbs.

:wai: As for a carb with adjustable jets. You might find a used one or aftermarket one. As the EPA has pretty much shut down the adjustable high speed jet carbs. If it were me, I get a rebuild kit and a new primer bulb.

Where can I find a rebuild kit?
BTW, the carb I have, the jet is marked/ changeable

Anyone have any info on my "driver" question
tks

:wai: Rebuild carb kit number, 631760C, primer kit number, 36045A. these are Tec numbers, should be avaiable at any L&G dealer near you. Somebody else will have to answer your driver ?.

Try and find the carb for it with the choke. I picked one up for my OHH50 Tec and it fires up first pull now with choke. I can also have it warming up half choke for a little bit and once its warm choke off and away it goes.

As for the TC.. What make the driver junk? They sell parts for the 20 series.I rebuilt my 30 series with a few parts and not a lot of cash..

Post a pict of it.. before you scrap it..

Just bought a primer bulb the other day for a vertical shaft Tec. $8 from a lawnmower shop. For his application, an adjustable jet carb would be better and for $20 shipped, you wouldn't have to clean the old one.
