Looking good. I need to pick up a 3D printer. Buddy at work is huge into them and has been bugging me for a year to get one. I could sure use one for the RC stuff I do.

I really recommend them if your into diy and ideas
just a recomendation, ender 3 or ender 3 v3 ke/se are the best to start with in my opinion, the ender 3 is the cheapest

Ok stupid question- l'm sure whatever this "wire" you use, (some sort of plastic l'm guessing)
Is fuel and temperature resistant?
Maybe both with a side of vibration?
Or is this used for a casting mold, any ya have an aluminum one cast?

yes it is plastic, but also yes, its temperature resistant enough that it will remain structurally sound once in the engine, and also resistant to gasoline and other chemicals, some milk jugs are actually made out of the same material (saying that because I use a cut jug as a funnel to pur gas in the kart, never had any problems, still perfect)
And about the vibration, you would be surprised at how strong plastic is, I feel like people have an idea that plastic is weak because of the fact that most everyday plastic items are very thin, but with a wall thickness of 2 or three milimeters it is almost as strong as steel on the thinner side obv, just to give you an idea, I actually made asprocket for the kart and my kart aint light, or weak, and it held up just fine, obviously it would have worn down faster than metal so that wasnt a good permannet solution but the part worked, technically, structurally it did

but if you want to cast, lots of people have done that and it IS possible, I have personally never done it but it would be interesting to look into

Casting one off parts don't come cheap.
l figgered the "wire" is available in different flavors for different applications.
Thats purdy cool. I hope you can make it work. Even if only for a while.

Detroit ( and probably others ) have been making intake manifolds out of a type of plastic for years. I'm sure it will work for you as well.

ya that plastic is nylon or PA, which has higher heat resistance than other "wires".
Nylon PA and TPU (TPU is just a rubber "wire" which comes in different flexibility ratings in case you want something really rubbery or practically plastic) those two require printers with higher heat capacities in order to melt the material, not all printers can, but nowadays almost the majority can.
I will admit the main limitation of these machines is size, how big they can print, most are 220mm(x) x 220mm(y) by 250mm(y), there are machines that have more, there is even one that has an infinate y axis so you can print something as long as you want, until you run out of filament ofc, however those are more expensive and not recommended for a beginner because of the price, you want to start small to test the waters, see if its somethig you like.

This is what a normal roll of "wire" looks like, this one is 1 kg for round 30 bucks

and this is what the printer looks like

With the Ender 3 v3, what would you say is a typical print time with single color say around 100mmx100mmx100mm would be?

Sure its all rainbows and unicorns, fun and simplicity! Sure. Then ya need to know all the computer BS to make it work amd make what ya want instead of a glob of misshapen hot plastic. I'm happy ya youngn's can make that stuff work. I'm computer challenged, and I'm guessing a lot of us "seasoned citizens" are as well. Where you see cool parts made whenever ya think 'em up, I see endless hours on the phone with tech support!

the V3 KE is faster than the V3 SE but its more expensive so im gonna assume you mean the SE, either way it really depends on the model, something with mroe curves will take longer,
if you show me what you want to print I can tell you more accurately, the prototype manifold I printed would have been around an hour and a half with the SE, I had to print it on another one at a friends house cause I didnt have filament at home

well like I said, the actual printing is really not that hard, its really (REALLY) straightforward nowadays
HOWEVER, I will admit that the actual designing of the part can take some skill depening on how tech "savvy" you are
I am gonna be so honest right now, if you dont know how to do CAD (designing the digital part, for those who dont know) then tech support wont even be able to help you :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: however I understand that its not for everyone, respect to you guys either way for knowing how to weld and machine metal, that knowledge will prob fade soon in mygeneration sadly, I guess 3dd printing is the modern equivalent of welding or mchining, since most things nowadays are made with plastic either way.

If you’re going to print something print it out of steel or aluminum or better yet titanium. Then I might be interested.
actually  you can do that
except those machines are in the triple digit price points, although a better alternative is Carbon fiber infused filament, which is basically carbon fiver 3d printed, stronger or as strong as aluminium, and much MUCH lighter, although the printers able to print CF are more in the couple thousands prie points, but the value for money is insane, i was lucky enough to see and test a part made of CFIF and it is insane, it really is stronger than aluminium, and weighs absolutely nothing

I jsut remembered, F1 engine blocks are actually 3d printed and porsche started to test 3d printed pistons

Its another step in the march of technologt. I think its great that shyt like this exists.
I grew up in an age without computers, and no cell phones! Can you imagine?
l have nothing against technology, but l have no interest in particapating, any longer.
BTW, do you know how to make a VCR stop blinkin *12:00*?

yes i can actually imagine 😂 i didnt have a phone or a computer until last summer, although to be fair I ws allowed to use the school laptop since 4 years ago but most of my life has been without technology, my family isnt too big on it either unless its usefull, I will say most devices nowadays are just dumb ways for people to be lazier and lazier, if anyone here has watched wall-e, thats the way we are heading if you ask me
And no 😅 unless there is an adjustable setting for it then that would require reprograming it, which i assume neither one of us can do, at least me, im not that technological 😂
but if you tell me the model I can try to see, if you really need it :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
