Carb Question

Just bought myself a little Manco kart with the 5 hp Tecumseh. It had been sitting for awhile, but started up first pull! After about 5 minutes, gas started to leak out of the carb.

Took the carb apart to find the bowl extremely dirty. Could the float have just gotten stuck by debris? Any help with this is apppreciated.

LOL, JK, your avatar always gets me though. It's funny.

I would say just take it off and clean everything in it. I learned that when it comes to the carb; when in doubt, clean it out!

Tecumseh is the red-headed step child in the way of performance modifications. You are pretty much limited to the following:

header
porting
milling the head
maybe larger carb?

Unless its a 10hp (called a star in racing) in which case you can get a good rod.

Ya, its just the little 5 horse. Ran like a champ before the carb threw up. I would like to upgrade the motor, but then again, its just a 5 horse. Maybe I should upgrade to a better kart before I upgrade the engine.

This go kart puts me at 3 go karts. One of these days, I'm gonna have a Go Kart Revival here in Las Vegas, have everyone bring their go karts, new, old, racing, junkers, to one central location and cruise around. That would be sweet!! Even better, take them down the strip!!! Bellagio water fountains got nothing on these sweet karts! fftopic: :biggrin5:
