Probably emissions bs. I know that on Chevys, the CPS is used for cruise control and in the case of at least the S10, shifting the auto transmission from gear to gear.

So basically I'm kind of right. The crank position sensor is for timing for fuel to be injected and for spark.

Let the idiot help ya out some more.

http://bfy.tw/8Xr9

Thanks.
Due to the unpurposeful lack of smiley, the question was not so much as rhetorical, but kinda sorta tongue in cheek.

Anyways, I'll be having 1 of my two mechanics getting on this soon to see.

I appreciate all the help guys!

Funny, I get better help on my Jeep from a small engine forum than I did from a Jeep forum.

You guys are great!

Mechanic #1 and I seem to have a difference of opinion of what the value of his time is worth.
Machinic #2 Will do it, $190 out the door.

I'm just hesitant to get the work done. It perplexes me.
I've driven the car lots, and it happened to me maybe twice, but it happens to her all the time.
Yesterday it did it twice in a mile to her.

I just don't get it.

I'll probably end up taking it to #2, and just hope that does it, and we don't start chasing an electrical phantom all over the car.

I thought you were a little more mechanical. It's not really a hard job and any shade tree with dad whose a tv repair man should have an ultimate set of tools.

But is the hassle worth that price out the door?
Just make sure it's an OEM spec sensor. I'm not joking about that.

And mine was intermittent at first. Some days I could only get a block or two before it would die, and other days nothing happened. It eventually got worse.

I had the center electrode burn completely out I the cap and stopped my 4.0 dead in the side if the road, so I'd check that too. A fuel filter never hurts anything either. Clogged fuel filters are the leading cause of premature death of electric fuel pumps.

No cap and rotor on that 4.0

And yes the fuel filter on the dubjays is a good thing to change, its the pressure regulator also.
Stupid fuel lines are a P.I.T.A.
3 lines, 3 different clips.
