My friends, I can't express my joy enough. Believe it or not I've relied on the 90 amp Harbor Freight flux core welder for years to build my business, gokarts, and other projects around the house and shop. I've spent equal parts welding as I have cleaning slag.

I was recently paid for a winch order that gave me the funds to buy a legit welder. I did a little research and ordered the Lincoln Easy MIG 180 on Tuesday. I checked the order status on Wed and it was still processing. I was casually browsing through the latest Popular Mechanics and saw an ad for the Power MIG 210.

I immediately reviewed all the specs then called to cancel my order for the Easy MIG. It took a couple days and some running all over town but now she's mine! Assuming I get through all my cutting and drilling today, I'll be welding like never before in my own shop! (By the way, you'll prob have to wait for yours, Lincoln is back ordered and the wait list is growing)

If you are considering this machine (and why wouldn't you) order now. I've heard that by early 2015 the price will likely increase given the demand.

Sweet!!! That should handle just about anything that might come your way for years!!! I take it that you're just setting it up, seeing as it appears to be in the kitchen rather than the shop. Or are you rearranging the house as well????

Ha ha, yes this is an amazing platform for ARC, MIG, and TIG, anything this won't handle my Lincoln "Tombstone" ARC welder will. I'm just setting it up in the house then taking it to the shop.

Yes, the screen is awesome but the functions are even cooler, a total novice could have his welder set like a pro within minutes, this thing is totally intuitive

I'm almost positive they've had someone totally blow it though. I just read the spec's on the unit. The only minor drawback I see is that it's only a DC machine. That means aluminum will be mig only, and you have to add the spool gun to do it. Other than that, I like the spec's. The price listed is rather dear for me though. You using it for a business make's that issue much less of an issue. Enjoy!!!!

thanks fellas, I admit the DC only held me back for a few minutes but I said "oh well" since I was going to buy the spool gun for the Easy MIG 180 anyway and I thought of the TIG function as a great bonus although the required parts are going to cost a bit more, I've been busy with all that cutting today so I haven't had time to set up the 210 yet, I'm so excited though

I did some practice welding with it on Saturday evening, 2 lbs of wire practice in fact. I started tack welding the winch Sunday morning and needed wire. I read reviews for the Harbor Freight carbon steel wire and decided to give it a try, it worked just as well as the Lincoln IMO and saved a ton of $$. That being said- I would never use Harbor Freight flux-core.

The welder works amazing, you simply tell it what process you're doing, what gas mix, what wire diameter, and thickness of the material and you're done. It does give you a small range to tweak the wire speed and amperage. I'll still need to practice on my winch frames to get even better but these new welds look better than flux-core.

I bought the Harbor Freight welding cart but had to make some small mods. I grinded down the lip on the top tray on the side of the "door" for the welder so it had clearance to swing open. I masked and painted the bare metal once I was done grinding. I also drilled small holes in the top tray to bolt the welder to it. The 210 is slightly larger than what the cart was made for and I don't want to take any chances of dumping my new baby.

And yes Fabroman, I'll be sneaking out to the shop whenever I can to spark up!

As we've been discussing the Harbor Freight TIG and converting an arc welder to TIG, I'm wondering if I could buy off-brand components to work TIG with my Lincoln Easy MIG and save some cash, what do you think?

No I don't think so. I forget what exactly.. But I think tig needs constant voltage, and the mig produces constant amperage, Or visa-versa.

****! This thing is nice. I am actually in the market for a new welder. Was looking at 140 amps, but then decided i should do at least 180 so I wont have to upgrade again.

Last couple days I have been eye balling the hobart 210.... But now that I see this post, might just have to get this. VERY NICE!
