I have a Carter Trail Hunter and I need new front rims but I don’t really know the specs of the rims I need which makes it very hard to search for them. I’ve attached a photo of my kart along with a parts list.

I know I need the front rim (108) which is part #3191107. Does anyone know the specs of this rim to help me search or know where I might get exact replacements? Any help is appreciated I’m stuck.

Welcome to diy! @Karttekk will probably be able to help, I would start by seeing how large your existing wheels are and looking generic wheels up on OBM or Go Power Sports or any of the kart websites.

You'll probably need to buy two 8" wheels and two hubs. Check with Go Power Sports about these or ask them what they suggest. Your kart shipped with 16 x 650 x 8 tires. Your spindles should be 5/8".

So I measured my front axle and it is 5/8”, but it’s only 4” long. Is that ok still to use what you posted in those links? Sorry I’m new to karts.

It’s fine, new people is why we are here (and being crazy together) I think I’ll have to let some more knowledgable members chime in here, I really couldn’t tell you. :lolgoku:

Right there in the advertisement on the posted link it says length of hub,
3&1/2 ". So if your front axle is 4" long , the hubs are probably too long .
Leaving only 1/2" for the axle nut might work but that is cutting it pretty close.
Call them and ask if they don't have one that is shorter. 5/8" is by far the most popular size for front axle. You can buy wheels with bearings right in the wheel.
It is not necessary to run a separate hub. Probably cheaper as well. There is a huge selection available. Don't worry about the offset of the wheel, wether hub
type or direct bolt on you can always turn the wheel around and mount it backwards . Worse case is the valve stem is on the inside. NO biggie.

I've got a Carter go kart I'm cutting up to make a shifter off road kart. If you need the hubs and rims I can ship on your dime. Name your own price :)

Carter is obsolete and has been out of business for years. Finding parts for any older Carter is a challenge. Something that matches the factory wheel isn't out there. My suggestion is call Go Power Sports or any kart parts vendor and ask their suggestion. Tell them what brand and model kart you have and what do they suggest as far as front wheels and tires. Send them that PDF if need be. Avoid Carter products in the future, Manco parts are getting harder to find now. The Coleman machines are probably the best bet.

The offset of the original rims is what’s causing me so much struggle in finding a replacement. It seems like it’s an odd offset on the inside part of the rim that mounts on the axle first. I can’t seem to find rims which match this offset which makes me wonder if I don’t need to change it to a hub of some kind. But this is kind of out of my knowledge realm.
