can't find an axle

I'm restoring this go kart and I found out the axle is bent and someone also said the sprocket it had was torn up. I think it was because of the bad axle. Pretty sure the axle is 18mm diameter, not sure of the length. I can't find anything about an 18mm axle on the web. Help me, please!!

You can ask all these questions in the thread you started with the pics to fyi.

One wheel peel karts generally just use a bolt or stud welded to a bar or tube for an axle, so just order an 18mm class 8.8 bolt of the appropriate length and weld it on (or find someone who can weld and have them do it)

Might be a bit hard to find in a store in the US, but you can get them at Fastenal or a GOOD hardware store if you don't want to order online

That's because they don't exist; the closest you'll find is 19mm or 3/4" (19.05mm); the next size down would be 5/8" (15.875mm)

There is an axle, but not a live axle.

An axle is a shaft upon which a wheel turns. A bolt welded to the frame is an axle if you put a wheel on it.

A trailer axle still an axle even though it's not driving the wheels.

This guy has started multiple threads asking different questions about the same kart. It's a Ken Barr one wheel drive yard kart. There are pics in ine of them. (not of the axle specifically though.)

This is very true, however, technically, a bolt welded to a frame would be a stub axle; it's all about using the correct terminology...

The kart he has is pretty much the generic kart that Northern Hydraulics (now Northern Tool) sold a DIY plans book for it 20+ years ago. But this one is the Ken-bar that some have said.

We need pictures of the axle so we know how to better help you. Outside of one other kart on here, I haven't seen any karts with an axle housing. If it has a live axle, it'll be 1" or 25mm (Well 25.4mm if it's metric). If it's a fixed axle, then it'll be just a grade 5 or 8 bolt welded to the frame. Pics of the kart without the wheels on please will be a huge help.

You likely have a 3/4" live axle that runs thru the tube. The tube should have 3/4" ID bearings.

I have a Carter Brothers Kart factory set up like this.
