Calling all Australians on here.

We watched a film at school about cane toads ove the past couple days and they seem pretty crazy. I knew they were a problem over there, but just the specs of their introduction and take over amazed me.

You guys have any opinions? I heard hitting them with the car is pretty fun :D.

non over here

the are a huge problem over east as they are carnivorous so they wipe out native marsupials but they are poisonous so nothing can eat them

they breed like rabbits (which is anougther issue we have)

but they can only move were there is water so the only way they can get to west Australia is over the top during wet season (now) but they are steadily makeing there way down to fabromans place

Yeah, they haven't quite got here yet; last I heard they're about halfway down the coast.

I used to live in Queensland (home of the cane toad), They'd hit the border 20 years ago. One day, we had one in our back yard. Got the air rifle out & shot it then my B-I-L kicked it over the fence into the reserve behind our house. In the process, the thing spat which splashed on my wife's hand. Two weeks later she had a massive wart on her hand...

Don't forget the camels :roflol: , but really, they are also a problem. I wonder how long until the toads get down here.

Not for a long time I'd think

They have to make it they the Kimberly in a shrt period of time
Then survive the dry season there
Next wet season make it to gerlton

It's a hell of a trip and they would have to get lucky

More than likely a truck will bring some from the northern terrotry and they will get in that way

I would probably carry around a pellet/.22 and use em for target practice. lol

I read the hop/heads dry them out and smoke them . To get way out there .

I was gonna say that. Are they good eatin'? Popular Mechanics did an article called "If you can't beat 'em, eat 'em!" Very interesting.

I heard about the rabbits as well. I bet they thrive in that climate. What exactly are they hurting?

I thought the whole wart thing was a old wifes tale

Nope. Have you ever seen a cane toad? :roflol:

In rural Queensland, they do

The environment! There are literally millions of the darn things.

The ironic thing here is neither cane toads nor rabbits are native to Australia, they were both introduced

nor is the foxes or the dingos or dogs or the camels
or horses

really like u would expect in a country of mostly desert there is very few native aminals of size

although it is known (although its kinda glanced over in the australian history)
the people who screwd australia the most was the aborigones
they had a nomandic existance where they will go into one area and get all they could out of it then burn it and move on

any plant that cant survive fire or germanate from it was erased
any animal that couldnt out run it or breed in numbers that could survive it got erased

we should have an ecology close to south africa but instead we have alot of eucalyptas trees and bull rushes and salt bush

heres a mag that explains why the frogs cant get across to west aus

Eucalyptus trees are deadly! They were introduced to California for furniture and of course the guy brought the wrong type. Those trees secrete an oil that is like gasoline for fires. Now they are everywhere in California, and wouldn't you know, we get a lot of FIRES!

u eat rabbit???

of all things:ack2:
tried it once and it was awful:roflol:

what sort of Eucalyptus trees are theyu
most of them are very hard to burn when they are green
but then u get abig fire and they just explode

they are worst for polluting the ground
in a climate where water is very rare they drop leaves and when the leaves rot it leaves the oil which is toxic to most other things as to weed off compation

thats why under a Eucalyptus tree the grond is bare

Sorry buddy, I have to correct you there; dingos are indigenous & unique to Australia

the people who screwd australia the most was the aborigones
they had a nomandic existance where they will go into one area and get all they could out of it then burn it and move on

So that's where it started... :roflol:

Eucalyptus trees are deadly!

But koalas love 'em :D
