i just got a murray explorer
body is in fair shape but does not have a engine,driver pulley or belt
im trying to find out what series it is then i might can figure out the driver and belt
where or how do i find out the series i have looked all over the kart and have found no kind of tag any where
im planing on putting a 5 hp briggs on it

do yall have a trade or sell thread so i might can find these parts

Yes we have a for sale section.... I don't think there is any there right now. Post pics of what you have. If yours is what I'm thinking, your belt # would be 203589A , but that is just shooting from the hip. Post pics, and we will know what you have and tell you what you need..... And fill in your location, please....
EDIT. That's NOT your belt #..... BUT I can get it for you off the one at work..... Green murray explorer, had 6hp tec,now sports a hemi 212.....

yep mine is green and a single seater
i have a daughter that cannot walk from her hip down are paralized so im working on this kart for her to ride on the dirt road we live on
my son and i have scooter we ride on this road and i hate leaving her home while him and me have joy ride without her
this kart has enough room in it and roll bars to protect her if she crashes
i plan on putting a hand control for the brake and gas
that is if i can find the parts to fix it up

Well, I'll be right beside you (in spirit) through this build then. Just let me know what you need as far as help. Hand throttle and brake are easy.... What else you got?
For the hand throttle, head down to walmart. Yes, I said walmart.... Go to the bicycle section and buy a 10speed cable repair kit for $6. Then, look for a set of handle bar levers. I prefer the shorter, bmx style, because the length does not affect the travel as much as the longer ones. That will make sense when we get there.... Don't worry, I got ya....
For brakes, I'm going to suggest you drop the coin on a nice hydraulic set up,so she doesn't have to have a killer grip, just to slow down, with mechanical disc. I'll post you a link to arc brand parts. Good stuff. Some people have also used the steering wheel off the honda odyssey karts. They have hand controls.

i have a ASYMMETRICAL on the driven pulley looks flat on one side and has a bevel on the other side so im guessing its a series 30 ASYMMETRICAL Type so far so good as far as the oddsey steering wheel good ideal never thought of that but is the brake lever hydrolic or cable not sure on that part
so on the ASYMMETRICAL Type what is the driver pulley
is it just called a asymmetrical 30 series driver pulley or does it have a diffrent name

how can you tell when your engine and driver pulley is missing do they have a standerd belt
i know thing would have been a lot better if it had all the parts but heck i have no reason to fuss to much i think i got maybe 30 bucks in it like it is i should be able to get that much back selling it at the junk yard if every thing goes south on it
but i sure hope to get it going for my daughter so she can go joy riding with me and my son

To find out what belt you need, look again at the links I posted, especially the one regarding belts

To figure out what belt you need, you need to know the center to center distance between your driver and driven, as well as the driven pulley size

Not really. ....the centers will be what they are. .....the driven what you buy. ....right? ??????

lol when i got this kart it didnt have a engine or a driver pulley or belt
i do have a 5 hp brigg on a twin tank air compressor that runs great but for some odd reason will not keep the air in the tanks
i think the checkoff valve is bad and it being a old unit i cannot find the valve any where so i was going to scrap it take the engine off and put it on this kart and fix it up for my daughter
but figureing out how and what all i do need
the only gokarts i have every had in my very long life was the one that had a clutch and chain old school these torqe converters system is all new to me
i have 3 scooter with this kind of system and was thinking about taking the 86 honda elite 80 converter off it and put it on this kart but i notice the driven pulley is much smaller then the 7 inch driven on the kart now so im not sure if that would make it slower or faster i really dont think my daughter needs a dragster on this gravel road lol
and i also have a convert system on a golfkart that might work the golf kart has a great engine on it but has other issues that force me to park it but i dont really think that the shaft on that motor is a 3/4 inch so im sure it will not work

dang it

well guys took the briggs of that air compressor it runs great nice and smooth but noice some oil coming out from under it when i raised the engine off the mount plate and saw a long crack in the base of the engine i guess the folks i got the compresor from must have left it outside and let it get full of water at one time and it froze and cracked it so i think i will sand it good and put some apoxy on it and hope it holds till i can get a new engine
im hoping it will hold since the engine dont really build up pressure but its unreal how great this engine runs
it does not knock or rattle so im thinking it had to be a freeze crack
if i could figure out a way to put pictures up i will put some up so yall can tell me how you think it cracked lol
and no i dont think duck tape to work lol

That might work. .....cleaning it very well. ...sanding the aluminum ....and applying it from inside the crankcase and then covering that epoxy with a thin piece of aluminum will up the chances considerably. ......

If you can find it. ....Alumna-Weld.....seems to work very well. ......
