Hi Guys,

New here but after going through the forums and reading all you guys have to say is making me a pro day by day

I am planing to build the Black Widow from Spiderkarts and was wondering if I could use the engine from this old Honda 50cc motor bike, it has a centrifugal clutch in built and will cost me 50 to 60 $. Should I use this or not?

Thanks for your help!

:wai:If its in decent shape, I would not tear it apart. I would sell it and buy an engine. Moped/scotter freaks are looking for those all the time.

Did you not notice the location? :lolgoku: In that part of the world, those things are a dime a dozen.

Having said that, if you can find one that's a bit beat up but still runs well, it should be ok on a little black widow

Thanks man! I'm gonna go look for it this weekend and if you guys would like, will post pics of this place where they have all sorts of old bike stuff! Like I said, I can get this engine for max 60 $ in running condition.

One man's trash, another man's treasure!

What's left of the quad in pic 3 looks like it would be a good donor... if the engine runs

Seemed nice to me as well, it is from a buggy though and asking $150 for it, I might bring him down to $80 if you think it will be good for a Black Widow and it has reverse too....

Just wondering, these Chinese ATVs have a jackshaft where as this buggy does not, what is the reason for that? I am planning to buy an ATV engine with auto transmission so would I need to put in a jackshaft too?

Further to above, I'm thinking of buying a used ATV engine that has a TC with it as I don't have access to new TCs here, would this work?

Waiting for input...
Thanks

An ATV engine /cvt ought a work fine - that's what powers many of them (GY6, at least)

I'm on the lookout for a cheap atv for just that purpose.
