Can anyone tell me what kind of engine this is??

i dont know anything about engines or anything of that matter so please dont give me any s**t haha but can any tell me what this engine MIGHT be or any information you might have? the guy i bought this go kart from gave me the engine and said it doesnt work. he said he doesnt think its catching a spark but i want to find out more about it to try and fix it so any info would be much appreciated. i can take more pictures if needed

i just dont know how to restore or what i need =/...if i can figure out the problem im sure i can figure out how to fix it haha but theres ANOTHER problem in itself...idk how to figure out whats wrong with it...

well first off, take the wire off the spark plug, take a screwdriver and put in the plug cap and then put the end of the screwdriver over the top and see if you get a nice bright blue spark, and if you have spark, take the spark plug out, pour a teaspoon of gas down the cyclinder and pull about 3-6 times and see if it fires, if not its most likley a spark problem, if it does, carb clean time. and well for the first matter, have you tried putting a gas line on it and pulling a few times, no gas = no start

this will definitely sound stupid haha but no i didnt try to run any gas into yet. i just bought it at noon (its 3:45 now) so im just trying to get an idea of what i should do based off of what he told me is wrong with it. i dont like ****ing with things unless i know what i can do without ****ing anything up but once i get the gas tank and/or some gas ill try and run it. i live like a 5 minute walk from QT so ill walk over there in a little while. i appreciate your input though even if it doesnt fix it its a step in the right direction haha ill post more once i try everything you told me

It might have started life as a snow engine, in which case it had no air filter from the factory.

Great engine! Fix it up nice, it'll serve you 'till you die.

do you think i could use a fluid container for a car as a gas tank?? like maybe the coolant tank or window wiper fluid tank?

Use with caution. Those containers were NOT designed to hold fuel. As such, the plastics used may dissolve or degrade in continued exposure to gasoline. Much better to use a fuel-friendly container, or something made of metal. Also- ensure that whatever container you use is vented. A perfect airtight seal will create a vacuum that will starve the engine for fuel.

if i were to sell/trade this engine to a lawn mower shop, based on what you can see, do i think i could get maybe like 50 bux in the condition its in?

woord....im just gonna go to harbor freight and buy the 212cc predator. i took my tecumseh into a repair shop and the dude told me itll b like 100-150 to fix it so i said "f that sh*t ill get a different engine" so tomorrow morning im gonna head on over there and pick it up. ill probly need some help connecting my throttle pedal as well as my kill switch if anyone would care to assist me haha
