Can anyone identify this frame?

I bought this frame about 30 years ago, can anyone tell me the manufacturer of this frame? Or any history.

I can name the Asuza Tri-star wheels, and say that the config of the frame's not uncommon at all. However, can't say I've ever seen that little bit of sheetmetal along the sides of the frame by the engine. Is that raw-edged and sharp, or is it folded into a hem or similar?

I dont think that was added, it looks factory finished. I found that frame in a barn about 30 years ago in Illinonis.
