I have a go kart I am hoping someone on here can build a jackshaft for it also I will need a way to adjust chain tension this kart the chain has to be tight or it will make a noise as if the chain is slipping in the jackshaft sprocket...

Ok here is the deal my engine is a predator 420 cc so I can not use the first jackshaft setup you showed me.i have never welded before so there is a no there I guess my only option is to find a jackshaft engine plate however my torque converter has to be a 40 series and the engine plate at the bottom post I do not know if it will fit my engine footprint

Go ahead and do the footwork.
Meaning collect the necessary parts, guestimate the distance you want for the jack shaft, decide and research where it will be mounted ( do mock ups ), after mock up get back with us on ideas and critiqueing, take it to your welder all your specs and info.
After welding- precisely measure the distance of jack shaft to motor shaft.
Order belt, then enjoy the kart.
The rest is up to you.

Does this help? If I forget anything someone chime in.

Well I wasn't too sure if mentioned, why not 2 sprockets of desired pitch, and 2 pillow blocks of a given shaft diameter(for that engine is say go for 1").
That's what I did, mind you I also incorporated a tensioner in this aswell.

I needed to make a jackshaft for my Polaris 295 transplant. I can weld, but many people can do this for you.
If you get the bearings you want to use (I used 3/4" ID x 1 3/4" OD), go to a metal supply and get the plate cut AND bent and a tube/pipe with a 1 3/4" ID, then take it somewhere to get welded. An exhaust shop or anywhere they do welding would probably do it cheap, especially if you have everything laid out and the parts cleaned.
I also got a piece of pipe with a 1 3/4" OD for the inside of the jackshaft. Measured and cut correctly, it will allow for a "seat" for the bearings 5/8" from each end. I plug welded mine so it will stay put.
The picture shows a bottom plate. You wouldn't necessarily need this for your application.

well i have a jackshaft on it but the chain tension os not adjustable so my chain is loose if i take out a link, well im forced to remove 2 links then the chain will not go on the sprocket i guess i will try a half link but i do not see how they work

No....it will get a teeny bit looser....IF!!!-the whole chain is new...otherwise. ...no- not for a long time. .....

You are probably better off with a full link and washers for now......

I can not use washers encase my jackshaft sits on a plate under the engine so where would washers go.i know normally they would go under the engine to raise engine and tighten the chain but my setup is different.i have always had to have my chain tight though if not it makes this sound as if my sprocket is slipping it the chain when under a very heavy load or very fast take off, however it has never been this tight
