so im a stupid teenager who has a silverado with a 4.8 v8 in it, and who has just acquired some money recently from a job. ive figured out that i can get a good deal more HP from it if i do a cam swap, maybe take one from a 'vette motor off ebay or something, cause theyre interchangable.
its really tempting to do this, but i just wanted yall's take on whether or not itd be stupid to do this on an engine with 150K miles on it. the engine is in great shape mechanically, and id be rebuilding the valvetrain with the cam swap, putting in new head gaskets and oil pump, and the like. so this is pretty much a partial engine rebuild with some upgrades in it. i asked this same question on a gm truck forum.
