I'm curios how the mod 2 cam does as well. IM installing the OMB stage 4 hemi kit on my predator and FYI for any one that's getting the billet rod (it uses 12pt 1/4" bolts and they are not very common, Internet order is all I've found. Been to harbor freight, Northern tool, Napa, Sears, lowes, home depot etc etc, they have them in certain kits but Im not paying $55 for 1 socket out of 40 that I already have lol) so I can't go any further until I get that socket to torque down the cap. So hopefully you'll get it in before my socket shows up lol.

Have you tried O'Reilly. or Autozone....ect???? Really surprised you struck out at Sears.....but....it's not what it used to be......

Wait......What????? 12 point 1/4" sockets are common as dirt.......most bolts are 6point and you can turn them with the 12point sockets......I have a feeling what you are calling 12 point may be something else....

No he is right. 12 point in a 3/8 drive all day long but when you drop down to a 1/4 drive, good luck. I was able to find one in a $15 set at lowes AFTER I made it work with an adapter. I used a wrench to snug both bolts pretty good, then I would rotate crank back and forth to make room for the tourqe wrench, adapter, and a 3/8 socket.

The cam is pretty nice and a def bang for the buck! I can't post it from my phone but I will post a vid later of it running(if I haven't already, I am still half asleep).

Ahhhh.....I missed that......I wasn't considering the drive size......yeah.....without looking......I have a bakers dozen of nearly complete socket sets.....over a hundred sockets.....and I can't bring up an image in my brain of a 12 point in 1/4" drive as small as 1/4".....but it wouldn't surprise me if I had one.....

But yeah.....they aren't common......

I tore down my engine and get ready to put it back together and noticed the top of the mod 2 cam lobe was hitting the crank shaft.. So I removed the crank and took away a little bit of metal where it was rubbing and went back to torquing the rod bolts back and BAM snapped one... just my friggin luck!! One was clicking on the torque wrench and other was just turning slowly and never clicked, so I put the torque wrench on the other bolt and it clicked so as I went back on the bolt it just snapped in half. Luckily it broke about 1/4" above the threads. So I ordered another set from ARC $20.99 shipped for 2 shatty bolts! These should be a little stronger then snapping at 170 in/lbs!

You must have just been the lucky guy to get a defective bolt. Weird that yours was rubbing as well. Just shows no two motors are alike. Make sure you have it timed right, dots lined up etc. .

Which cam did you use? I didn't have to do any of that and it spins over just as smooth as glass? Or did I miss-read that and some motors have clearance issues where others do not? I am wondering if I should take my motor back apart and check it now :mad2:

I got the mod 2 cam. I didn't have to do any clearing of the case, just the engine crank and the inside of the top lobe needed some slight trimming.

i don't know if its any difference in the engines or not but mine is the hemi head.

Guess I gotlucky since mine runs perfectly smooth. Mine is a non-hemi so maybe that has something to do with it as well.
