I HAVE DECIDED TO BUY A 44" 1" DIA. AXLE FROM NORTHERN TOOL. I HAVE THE BEARINGS I NEED PICKED OUT, ALSO I PICKED OUT A SPROCKET HUB. I NEED YOU GUYS TO TELL ME 1. WHAT SIZE SPROCKET TO USE FOR MY PISSED OFF GOKART. 2. SINCE THE 44" STEEL AXLE IS TAPERED AT THE ENDS TO 3/4", WHAT KIND OF HUBS SHOULD I USE., AND SHOULD I JUST CUT THE AXLE OFF AT THE TAPER? 3. ANYTHING ELSE YOU THINK I MIGHT NEED FOR MY LIVE AXLE, AND ANYTHING I CAN DO FOR MY SPINDLES IN THE FRONT OF MAD MAX AS FAR AS ME WANTING TO UES 4 LUG HUBS? KEEP IN MIND ORDERING FROM NORTHERN TOOL.

Hes going to be using a bike engine, so its completely different than choosing for an industrial engine with centrifugal clutch. You really need to wait for your engine to figure out the sprocket size. If you can find a sprocket for your MC chain the right size, you will most likely need to get a hub custom made for it, you may have to just get the whole sprocket/hub combo machined. Also, with a powerful engine you may want a thicker axle, or at least more than 2 bearings, maybe another 2 bearings next to the sprocket for support.
