I've had the poorly constructed frame sitting in my garage for a while. Figured I might continue with that theme. I'm robbing the tires off the snow blower (no snow no problem). I'm currently looking for a engine in the 7-8hp range, I may have to consider a clone if I can't find a good used one.

Welcome to the forum, JD! Good luck and happy building. Say- was it coincidence that you joined recently, or did you join for the build-off? Either way, I hope you stick around. Cheers!

During my hunt for an engine I decided to take a look at my snowblower and discovered it had a keyed shaft and a 3/4 hub fit on it. The engine mount is even the right size. I knew this was possible but how common is this? I know it doesn't have an air cleaner and it isn't made for a go kart application. But for setting up the engine mount I may give it a try.

A few years ago, I had an old Crapsman snowblower. Single stage, I can't remember the size- 22" cut, maybe? Anyway, factory engine was a 6hp H60 Tecumseh with a 10T, #40 centrifugal clutch mounted on the 3/4" shaft. PERFECT go kart donor engine. Same deal with the air cleaner, but there are a million ways around this.

I've managed to mix and max a steering setup, I'm surprised it works. I used gate hinges drilled out to fit the 5/8" bolt. The wheels are for mockup only, I'm already starting to see there ability to shred.

One good hit on the front tire and your tie rods will fold up like a accordion. Also if you don't use rod ends, all the holes in your tie rods will oval and get sloppy, not good.

I'm redoing my front steering and have been looking for 3/4" tubing for the spindles. I can't seem to find the thick wall tubing. The only type I can find is the thin wall. Am I just not looking in the right places?

I've completely redone my front steering. Ordered good rims. Currently trying to get the gas pedal to work correctly. Need to find brakes and some sort of seat cushion.

I finally was able to get out to my parents farm this weekend. Riding it brought me back some years driving a Manco. It handled better than I imagined it would and was actually pretty quick. The 40 year old briggs ran amazing. It does need brakes though. Even with riding it pretty hard I didn't break a single piece. No welds are busting or splitting and no bends in the frame. Now time to find brakes.

NICE!! You did a good job there. For the vid, you can upload it to youtube, and then paste the link to the vid here.

For your tierods, did you get the idea of how to make them off this sites homepage?

Yes i did get the idea from the sites homepage. I was a little leery that they weren't going to hold up but they seem to be doing fine. I'll see if i can get the video up.
