Hey guys i'm building my first kart and i know there are a lot of these posts but i want to make my kart right the first time. This is going to be a small project for me and my friend and we're both in high school so we planned for a budget of 1000 dollars. This kart is only in the planning stages right now.
We want to create a kart that goes around 30 mph and is completely electric. The Chassis we plan to use is the Viper STX for it's price. http://www.tres-angle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=GFOM&Product_Code=YK020WX .
At the moment we plan to use a 48V 1000W motor bought from monsterscooterparts. My question is whether or not it is powerful enough for what we need the speed to be. W The kart will be mostly run on the street. Here's the motor http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/...t-11-tooth-8mm-05t-chain-sprocket-my1020.html . It will be powered by these batteries http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/12ah48voagmb.html .
Also, any suggestions for alternatives are welcome.
