Build up a small block or go big?

The engines I have hanging out in my collection:
Duromax 208
Hemi Predator 212
Honda GX390

I'm dealing with an old Yamaha G1 golf cart that was electric. It's currently powered by a bone stock Duromax 208 with a knockoff TAV 30 converter, it's been pretty reliable. I can put my GX390 in there but I have to change around the whole rear end, engine mount and deal with a remote fuel tank because space is tight. The small block / tav 30 combo is nice and simple, fits great but I'd like a bit more get up and go off road.

Can I build up the current Duromax 208 or Hemi 212 to get me anywhere close to just stock big block power? If so which small block would be better to build up? It's just me on it most of the time, not lifted, stock sized knobby tires. I don't need to go any faster than 25 mph, just looking for a little more umph. I have it geared pretty low, current top speed is 20mph, also using the yellow spring on the secondary tav pulley to keep it in lower range longer.

Thanks for any info!

If you go 390 you should also upgrade to a 40 series CVT also.
Luckily I still have a 40 series setup I was running with the 390 years ago on another rig...the 30 series is a little light duty for those lol.

I think for trying to move that much weight around, you'll be happier with the 390 and the 40 series. You can build the smaller engine to get the power, but only at a much higher RPM. Wouldn't be pleasant or practical to drive.

A gx390 with a backed off UT2 ignition coil and turned up to 4,000rpm should be plenty for a 25mph kart.
