a 13hp industrial motor would serve you well, depending on your desired top speed and if you ever want to climb hills a tc may be helpful, the other option for good performance is a 150 to 250cc ATV/dirt bike engine. if your really interested in high performance, get a motor cycle engine!

i didn't think this sounded like the type of project he would want to use an mc engine on, but if he does it would be sick.

i wouldnt suggest starting out using a motorcycle engine as a first kart project, but if you want, you can get a reliable yamaha 125 (scrambler 5 speed) for peanuts (depending on where you live of course)

Don't know if your still planning on your build but if you are you quickest build will be to use a snowmobile motor.

I've buillt with motorcycle engines, buggy engines, industrial motors and the 2 strokes you find on many sleds.

You can see some of the builds on my UFB playlist.

It should give you some ideas
