Thats Him, I bought one originally for my buggy but it will now go on my vintage mini bike in stead. He was selling TAV30 for $150 with free postage the other day, just note that the sprocket is a 10T #41 and there is no plastic cover (he sells that for $28 free postage) I did notice that Edge products ebay store where selling same TAV30's for a little more $$ but include a 12T? #35 sprocket and the plastic cover

A little more, they're almost double!

However, I have noticed over the past 6 months that prices on TCs & cent clutches have dropped significantly. When I was building my kart I had to source a clutch from the US because it was simply cheaper to import (even with the outrageous shipping cost) than buy local. CPR now has drive kits for $85, $10 cheaper than what I paid for the same thing... :toetap05:

I remember they are about $300 on the edge website but I thought Edge Ebay store was selling them cheaper ? ( maybe wishfull thinking)
Still you're right it is good to se the price dropping on this stuff. It would be great to have someone selling all The Azusa stuff in Oz for all the DIY'ers out there instead of having to buy Race kart stuff at mega bucks, Chinese stuff that has no spares support or waiting for rare scraps of second hand bits to turn up !

Mine is from bullet lines (the ebay sellers name is boarding007 though)
and if you don't go for the "buy it now" TC you can have them for around 100USD
(mine was 103 plus "squeez my wallet" shipping of course ;)) still under $200..
but more than the 180 AUD TAV40 kit (#320930040577) :(

The problem is the size (or lack thereof) of the market, economically, it doesn't make sense to import large quantities for the few that would be sold...

However, the market is growing...

I know, right! The US has the most expensive shipping rates in the civilised world! I can ship items from the UK at a fraction of the price... Shipping costs should not be more than the cost of the item itself

Started test fitting everything to the chassis with a view to final assembly, pretty happy with the fit so far, maybe a big cushy seat might be in order as there is very little give in those tyres !

only parts waiting on are belt for TC and chain to complete !

looks like it'll be a fun ride.

one thing to point out though: lack of suspension means that you will have a bumpy ride. often times the kart may get bouncy enough to lose control. with that hoop hanging over your knees, you will have a hard time getting thrown clear of the kart, increasing the risk of serious injury. i'd play it safe and complete the roll cage, and bolt a 4-point harness in it.

Mysteryboy I hear you ! I'm going to fit some padding to tubes as well as get a softer seat, it not really a speed machine as it's geared for 60 Kph tops. I've fitted a aircraft 4 point harness that can also accept crotch strap to make it 5 point also harness has a manual lever to lock the inertia reel. Already seriously thinking about building a new frame some day using all the same running gear from this BUT with full suspension !

Yeah, I have thought about adding a rear suspension set up it would be fairly easy with the way the back end is built, probably cut off the bearing plates and re weld them onto some 2 " heavy tube then attach with trailing arms mounted just behind the roll cage, couple of shocks up the back ! But I'm going to see how it goes as is for now. Also thought about Honda oddesey style front trailing arms, but I think they would make it to wide for my trailer

Had a little break from my buggy project playing around with old mini bike, made up a chain tensioner to keep things nice ! this is the last thing that needs to be made, I can finally begin assembly for a test run

Interesting concept, can I assume it's not sprung?

It must be great having access to interesting parts like that sprocket on a bearing...

Outer tube is 25mm Sq inner is 20mm Sq. with a bolt weded to it, there are a couple of GX200 valve springs inside to keep the tension against the nut, I ripped off the ideah from Edge Products Taipan buggy ! as it has something similar . The bearing Sprocket was from OMB in the US, you can get them in Australia but are twice the price (of course)

Well Buggy is almost ready for test drive ! Tagged out the 1/4" tube bender from my work to form the brake line, easy with the right tool and then the brakes were bled, seem to work ok ! wiring loom has been extended to the loop that supports the steering wheel, key start = luxury ! floor pan fitted and throttle cable fitted. Also I have a new seat to fit from a Hilux that should cushion some bumps, just need to drill the holes into some bar I welded to the seat rails. I put some oil and fuel in the engine and it started first pull = good sign  but it would not rev when I adjusted the manual throttle ???? turns out that that that the lever was not connected to the governor from new, soon fixed with a pair of long nose pliers. need to run in the engine some more then fit the torque converter. Very close to the end now

Custom steel brake lines? Now that's luxury; nice

That :censored: brake line cost me more than the master cylinder and brake calliper combined ! had to get a flexible hose on the rear end due to the "floating" calliper
