ya i wouldnt recommend the one bar up the middle! no structural strength at all! i would do bigger triangular supports on the side or modify the frame so you could have two supports, one on either side

all vehicles flex to a point. it is keeping the flex in check that will make it last. dragsters flex quite a bit from what a car does. you can't send something that fast and be rigid. it would break a lot of welds. i've been building metal buildings of late, and the 3x3 seems more rigid than the 4x4. it definitely takes longer to cut.

You could be right, I was thinking of weight, maybe .100 wall? I don't think that there will be a problem with welds, I'm more worried about twist. The bottom tube could be strengthened by using 2 1x2x.083 rectangle welded side by side to give a internal web which would be .166 thick.

I worked on the design and now came up with the bottom rail of 2 1x2 with a 2 inch space between them, now the 2x2 can fit in between them which makes the bottom frame rail 4" wide and will stiffen it up a lot.

I would just put the engine on the swing arm would be easier NICE DESIGNS THOUGH!!!!!!!!!
