Those clutch faces also look rusty. If so, that will be like sanding your belt at high RPM's. The new buttons can't hurt, being that they are only a few bucks. To remove the nut, hold the flat face of the driven clutch in place, and try to back off the nut. This piece should be keyed to the JS and thus hold it still.

I tried some rust remover spray on the clutch faces but it doesn't seem to be coming off. Does anyone know a better way to clean them up? ....or do I need to buy some new ones?
Also, do I need 3 or 6 buttons on the driven?

For the buttons, look that them. Are they present? 3 will be full arc shaped. 6 will be a quarter circle shape. IIRC, the driven will have only 3 holes for 3 buttons, 6 for 6. Below is a picture of mine, it has 3 buttons. The second photo is a Comet clone TC driven but it too has 6 buttons like the newer TAVs.
