I have a 6.5hp B&S Vanguard that came off of a rototiller.
It runs great, and I'm wanting to use it on a Manco Dingo that I'm building. Since the kart was thrashed when I got it, I'm giving it some upgrades. Namely lights and a remote kill switch. I would also like to make it electric start, but I haven't been able to find a kit to do so.

If anyone knows where I can get a kit, or how I can do the conversion without a kit, I would greatly appreciate the info.

Is it the newer 203cc or older? https://www.vanguardpower.com/na/en...linder-horizontal-shaft/new-vanguard-200.html

When in doubt, contact Briggs & Stratton or a small engine repair shop with the engine model and serial numbers in hand. It's not an easy task to convert to electric start if it doesn't have it. You'll need to replace the flywheel with one with a starter ring gear, get a starter, cutout the starter hole (if not already done) in the side cover or get a different side cover. Getting the stator for lights is a bit easier. Different flywheel and coils that bolt on to the block under the flywheel, and rectifer/regulator. Briggs should have a complete list of parts to do both, just be prepared to drop a lot of money doing this.

Mine is 2-3 years old. Briggs is always expensive. But they usually are good quality machines. I wonder if parts for the newer ones are interchangeable with the older model?...

I wouldn't know unfortunately. I'd give them a call or shoot them an email about your query and see if they can lead you in the right direction.

Can you take a picture of the engine and the serial number/ model number plate? Parts tree comes up with some items, however I'm looking on Briggs and Stratton to see what they show.

I can take pictures, but not sure how to upload them. I'm on my phone, and the site isn't giving me an option to upload them from my phone...

Edit: I managed to upload the first one to my public photo album. I'll try to get more tomorrow.
