Back again, again for help

I have a push mower that a lil older, not much, I'm not sure of the brand name but its a briggs motor.

I let my bro borrow it and it mysteriously came back in the middle of the night without my knowledge. The next day I went to start it and the cord snapped, I replaced that, and while I was replacing it I noticed a TON of oil in the intake, so I cleaned it out best I could. I finally started it and ran it for a while and it just blew BLUE smoke.

I took the head off to find a ton of crud on the piston, and the intake valve was just soaked it oil and other junk. I though it might have valve seals on it but after taking the valve out I realized it doesn't.

I'm stumped here, the cylinder wall seemed clean.

Sorry for the long post but I want to make sure I get every detail in...If anyone has any ideas please let me know!

Thanks!

Its posible the carbs needle and seat valve got stuck open when your bro shut the mower off. This would let all the gas flow into the cylinder, where it would leak past the rings and into the crankcase.

I'd take the oil-fill cap off and see if its way overfilled with very thin oil that smells like gas. If so, you probably just need to clean the carb and change the oil.

It's also possible he fed it 2 stroke fuel which, as you know, has oil added to it. If this is the case, the engine will burn the fuel & leave the oil residue behind.

Before you go tearing your engine to bits, think about this:

i had the same problem with my riding mower,an entire gallon of gas had flooded the engine and i had to crank it till allthe gas shot outa the pipe, then i just left it for a week and changed the oil and it runs great now!. i do have a alternitave sugestion though, could your brother have had the mower on its side for a extended period of time? that would explain it all
