I have a Briggs Intek that will only run if it is choked. This is practically brand new. Took the carb apart and didn't find anything dirty or anything. This is even this way after it has been running for awhile. I have another carb and put it on and it runs fine, but I need it on the other motor. Any HELP?:surrender:

Run Chemtool Berryman's in the gas tank. The stuff comes in a metal can. It's a fuel additive. You can get this stuff at an auto parts store or maybe even Wal-Mart. If you work on small engines you should keep a can of this stuff around. If that doesn't work then it's not varnish or crud clogging you jets. It's worth a try. I stuck an OHV Briggs in my go kart and it ran like hell. Berryman's fixed it right up. You may have to run it for a while. It's good that your card will give you enough service to run choked. That will help flow the medicine through the carb.

i was thinking possibly taking apart the carb again and cleaning out the needle (jet) the small holes could be possibly clogged. not really sure, just a suggestion.

also when you took the carb off and put the other carb on, did the gasket look as good as the one off the other carb? i had a problem identical to yours, and everytime i changed the carb it ran perfect, finally it dawned on me the gasket from the gas tank to the carb was it. i switched em out..i was getting way to much air in there..
