Briggs and Stratton Raptor Racing Engine

Well... got new clutch on and everything hooked up and pulled about 8 times with no start. Then the engine completely locked up. Pull start won’t move at all. Any ideas of what the issue could be on this ?

If it was working fine before you replaced the clutch, and wasn't even run after the replacement, then something points me to the clutch??? Did you take it off and try turn the engine? Is the entire drivetrain hooked up at the moment?

I had it running with the new clutch on it and then when I tried to get it going again it locked up while trying to get it started (always took about 8 pulls to get it going). I took the engine off the kart and went through it and nothing else out of the ordinary from what I could see. When I removed the head I was able to work the flywheel and get the crank loose and everything seemed to be okay... so I hooked it all back up and tried pulling it again and sure enough about 8 pulls in it locked up again. To me it seems something is going on with the head since when I take it off I’m able to free up the crank and everything.. problem is idk what because it all looks okay.

He’s trying to tell you is pull the chain off and try starting it that way. Could have a bad clutch. Those aren’t rated for that much power.

And if that doesn’t work you might have a valve train failure also.

Is this for an alcohol fuel????
I reckon they take a special type of oil... and it doesnt like gasoline if thats what as put in there later???

I had a clutch on my p 212 tat got too tight up against the engine and licked it up. I loosened the clutch and it worked fine. does it get steadily harder to pull over the 8 pulls?

Yes I know, I tried doing that as well and it is not a clutch issue. Appreciate the reply though.

No, it is set up for gas.

I took the clutch off and still had the same problem so I don’t think it is that but thanks for the reply
