I need the help of some superior Briggs and Stratton knowledge.
I bought this engine at an auction today and can't seem to find a match for the numbers/letters to tell me what it is. NP is the closest I've been able to get. Please take pity on an ignorant hillbilly and help me figure out what I've bought.
Thanks I'm advance for any help.

It's one of few aluminum parts on the engine. It's corroded up pretty bad. I'm probably going to make a lamp out of this engine and sell it at the swap meet.

Flyin', Iffin' it says NP then thats what ya Gots, a model NP built some time tween 1940 and 1954. It should have a 2.00" bore and stroke. Those numbers at the bottom I think are valve clearance and point gap. If you want some really good info, try A1lawnaeration@gmail.com.

It says NPR, but I think the R is for reduction as it has a gear reduction on the output shaft. Thanks for the link, I may hit him up.

Edit: I shot him an email, we'll see what happens next.

You is right about the R. There is a chance that old dog was a military job used as a pump engine. I see it was painted green and I have seen a few of them restored and in sad condition. Does the oil fill have a chain on it? That is usually a dead give away it was a military engine. Keep it no matter what, thats a good find.
