Briggs 5hp with a 1" output shaft???

My friend and I have been getting together and working on Karts 1-2 times a week lately and we've been buying up local Karts to wither fox and keep or resale as we see fit. Today he picked up and old Manco dingo and the kid had a 5hp Briggs for it. After he gets it, he brought it over to my place and we get the motor out and it's a really nice, clean 5hp Briggs with almost perfect paint. Then i boric the crankshaft.....it's one inch?!?! I didn't know any 5hp's had an inch shaft. Is this common? Is it a hybrid of some sort? Not really sure what to make of it. It's got a fixed jet pulsa-jet carb with the plastic style gas cap, so it's not an old one. Model # is 130212, type 3250 01. It runs incredibly well and starts up super fast and easy. Not sure whether we should put it on a Lart or sell it or what. Anyone have any info on this thing? Thanks.

Not unheard of but sort of uncommon. I believe these particular engines were used for snowblowers.

I don't even see a crank seal, just looks like one really beefy bearing.

It's got a crank seal. The outer face of it is a steel stamping, U-shaped in profile. The inner part has the rubber seal.

So did this Dingo and 5hp come with a Clutch or TC?
Because it can be real handy to have a 1" Clutch.
They are expensive and sometimes make it not worth it to jump up to an 8 HP engine.

I think if you are Flipping and buying and selling alot of karts as you said, Then you have got some real handy parts there.

Next time you get an 8HP or bigger engine you can mix and match parts. Decide what you want to keep and what to sell etc. This "Weird" motor Just handed you options.

No, didn't get a clutch unfortunately. Motor wasn't even bolted on. Kid said he had just bought it. We just built another Dingo, that's not quite finished and this one is actually in better shape.

I have that same engine!
I'm in the process of building a mini tractor and I wanted to use a 2nd hand non running engine as a test to see if I could get it running.

Mine came from a MTD LAWN HOOVER (http://www.mtd-eu.com/index.php?id=22295)
I paid £17 ($21) for it as a non runner!
I changed the air filter, plugs and cleaned where the plugs go and cleaned to carb and it works!

As far as I know it 200cc.
I'm going to be using this 1" Centrifugal Clutch hooked up to a Peerless 700 gearbox.
