Hey guys, I'm a noob to karting. I got a racing go kart, I can drive it for a couple mins and then it shuts off. I crank it up and it don't idle long unless I spray a little starter fluid in it.

Cleaned the car, replaced the diaphragm and went from alky jet (52 or 55) and went stock. Still the same issue, cleaned carb again and stick some wire in the orfices and still the same thing but it ran for a min and now it don't run. Can't figure this thing out for nothing.Thinking about ordering a knock off stock carb and maybe a flywheel key. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

You sure that motor is designed for standard 87 gas? Might be too rich for standard gas. I know my 212 on choke will run, puffing smoke for a minute or two on choke but die a slow death.

Check the spark plug's color, then change the fuel ratio accordingly.

Did you actually remove the carb when you cleaned it? The siphon tubes, screens, inlets etc might be dirty.

I did not remove it from the block. I ran carb cleaner through offices where fdiaphram is located. It was easier to remove the tank vs removing the carb from block

Yeah, sorry to tell you this but if you didn't remove it you didn't clean it enough. I did a full carb clean once, a while ago. Took the entire thing apart, float, pin, screws, jet, etc. It ALL came out. It was all hand washed and all the ports cleaned out with compressed air and a little attachment to get in the small crevices. Put it all back together, with a freshly rebuilt motor and man did that thing purr. It was calibrated and adjusted and it just sat there and putt..putt..putt. If your motor doesn't do that with a new diaphragm, well get to work! I want to see that thing "haul ***" like the sticker says. You can do it, these motors are the best for a beginner to work on, very simple. Good luck!

Thanks, I was tempted to buy a knock off carb and try that or buy some alky for it.

Also, use brake cleaner. Carb cleaner isn't actually a good carb cleaner at all. It doesn't self evaporate, and it gums it up. Hit it with some brake clean and watch the puddle of black tar that was built up inside the carb come pouring out.

Some of those alcohol race carbs won’t run on regular gas. Even with jetting. Was the plug wet ?

That carb has been ported for alcohol I’m guessing then. Cause that’s a flooded sign.

The model and other numbers at right undernieth the checkered flag sticker...
Also... There really isn't a "knockoff" verity carb for these motors... It's another regular carb...
You want knockoff, go the Bronda route...

Speaking as one who spent his entire working life as a mechanic, the only carb cleaner to use is 2+2.
Nothing else comes close.

My model number is 133230 but I don't see any carbs with that model number, can I order one similar?

Found the model number, I realized it very difficult to find a car with my model number, 133230, and I see similar ones online but I don't know the fitment. The tube is in current places. I'm very close to making this a paper weight!
