Briggs 5hp flathead pull start ratios?

Are there diff ratios, wheel diameter on these pull starters?

On our AmEx'es, one has a short pull and spins the engine faster or harder, starts pretty easy.

The other has a long pull and doesn't spin the engine near as fast or hard and as result is harder to start.

I've not pulled them apart yet or swapped the starters to see if the results follow the starter but am going to when I get the engines mounted back on the karts. Just thought about it and figured I'd ask the question in case someone knows.

Hmm, that's interesting, I've never encountered that issue...

Logically speaking, the only difference would be in the size of the rope pulley...

There's only 3 or 4 bolts holding the starter assembly on so, it may be worthwhile removing both & comparing them...

Spring rotations of the different recoil assembles could also be different, the one allowing for more pull than the other
