Briggs 5hp 206cc questions

Alright so first off, I do not know that much about these motors.
I got this one off of a 73 jcPenney tiller.
I was wondering if I could use a carb off a craftsman 5hp motor. It mounts right up and would save me space for mounting it on the Kart.

So my questions are
1, mounting a different carburetor
2, linkage, I don't know which goes where

Well, first off,

Now, Craftsman is a brand of mower, not engines; what brand is the engine from the Craftsman mower? What size/hp/type (as in vertical or horizontal shaft) is it?

It's a push mower, 5HP, vertical shaft. It's from Sears.
I don't know what the motor is though.

Well, I can see the pics ok &, I can tell you you have a Tecumseh intake on a B&S engine; a lot of people don't like Tecumseh engines, mainly due to their temperamental carbs but, if it works...

What I can also tell you is that, the way it sits, it won't work because:
-the carb is mounted upside down
-The fuel hose on the carb is connected to the engine breather

Undo the two bolts at the carb, not at the head, flip the carb over, then connect the hose to a fuel source & you'll be a bit closer to having it running...

Now, here's the problem: If you decide to use that setup, you'll need to mount a fuel tank somewhere, higher than the engine, which takes up space, defeating the purpose of this exercise...

Right on thank you for clearing that up. I have the other carb and tank for it too, I just wasn't sure if I could use this one or not.

I'll use the b&s carb.

Looks correct so far. Show me a picture of the throttle control, located under the gas tank. This is where the throttle cable hooks up.

Yes, but I see no cable clamp to hold the throttle cable.

Next question,
I have a 48 tooth sprocket on axle.
I'm wondering what would be best for some hills, light ohv trails and what not. I live in northern California and it's ohv Heaven! I have big 15" atv tires.
basically any tips for climbing moderate hills.

Smaller sprocket?
