Hey
I have been looking around for an engine and I have found that the engine I was originally going to buy (the 250cc) is actullay the same price as a used Yamaha TZR125 here. I have found that people say that the TZR has around 30 horsepower, and it's the european equivlant to honda's cr125. I am looking to put this into a shifter kart and it wouldn't need too much torque. I just looked at the specs of both engines and the TZR has about 26-30hp and the Lifan (250cc) has about 15, and only about 16 pounds of torque.

I'd go with the TRZ. As you can tell it puts out more power than a 250 four stroke.

the tzr, it will have more aftermarket goodies. who doesn't like goodies? 4 strokes are still not quite on par with their cousins the 2 strokes. two stroke pros: ease of maintenance, higher revs/power, diagnosis of problems, lighter weight etc, etc. four stroke pros: no need to worry about adding oil to fuel or bottle, ... can't think of any more... oh well

More four stroke pros, less fuel, less noise, tons more torque at lower rpms, no smoke, easier to modify exhaust system and less of it.
